Masters in Computer Science Complete SOP Specialization in Computational Perception and Robotics

I plan to do research in the field of computer science to make faster and more effective human and computer interactions. I had exposure to academic level research as a McNair Scholar at Clarkson University. My summer research was to create a Badminton Robot. I learned about the systems and how to use microcontrollers to execute commands. I think critically to solve problems. I did literature reviews that helped me better understand the current knowledge and updates of scholars.

The badminton robot learned to detect objects and perform hitting mechanism. For detecting an object, I utilized OpenCV [OpenComputer Vision] library. I utilized an inexpensive Raspberry Pi microcontroller to connect to a camera for object recognition using colors and shapes. I implemented utilizing C++ programming language to ommunicate to the camera and microcontroller. A red ball was utilized for placeholder to track its motion.

Computational Perception and Robotics fascinates me. The notion that humans can tell a system to do tasks and then the system actually executes the tasks as efficiently as possible. It represents the possibilities of science and innovation. I would like to learn more about the robotics; including Artificial Intelligence [AI]. I have done research for two consecutive summers as part of Clarkson University’s research program to understand and create a Badminton robot to perform tasks efficiently and cost-effectively. I took a robotics classes at Clarkson, in which I learned about the Robotic Operating
System [ROS].

I enjoy doing research centered in Robotics. My career goal is to be a Computer Science/Robotics Engineer and learn about its functions and long-term implications. My prior knowledge of computers, lower level designs, and implementations can help improve programming as well as make debugging simpler.

I have tendency for thirst of knowledge, and I always like to learn. I like to try new way of learning/thinking, such look at some new codes, Computer science ideas, and new techniques to solve algorithm problems. I use LeetCode to test my algorithm knowledge. There are many techniques I use such as hash map, heaps, DFS, BFS, Standard templates Library STL], recursion, etc.

I am a planner, and I plan and execute around priorities. I do weekly planning monthly and yearly. I do plan to take two courses per semester.

You are the most prestigious school in our nation and in the world. The College of Computing provides world class computer scientist who solve complex problems and make world a better place through computer innovation. You have research funds approximately 25.5 million in the year of 2017. In summary, you have outstanding quality staff and professors that are dedicated to produce world class scholar to solve humanities problems. The online CS MS will give me freedom to take classes in my convenience.

This degree will enable me to better prepare to be part of teams that develop and implement real-world solutions, to help meet societal challenges. My goal in attaining a graduate degree and entering the field of Computer Science is to merge what I will learn and my skills. I look forward to future challenges as well as the exciting opportunities, which accompany the pursuit of this advanced degree.
